On February 19, the National Library of Belarus hosted the presentation of an electronic publication, Do not Leave Our Belarusian Language... prepared for the 180th anniversary of the birth of Francišak Bahuševič.
The resource provides an opportunity to look at the personality of the renowned writer, democratic poet, and publicist through the eyes of artists, appreciate the perpetuation of his memory, read the poet’s letters and manuscripts taken from the collections of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, and see the photos from the collections of the Kushliany Museum-Estate of Francišak Bahuševič. The publication includes electronic copies of the poet’s first lifetime editions, including Dudka Białaruskaja of 1891 and 1896, the poetry collection Smyk Białaruski of 1894, and studies of the writer’s life and work.
Alexander Susha, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Mikhail Rybakov, Director of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, Yulia Amosova, Leading Bibliographer of the Information and Analytic Activity Department of the National Library of Belarus, Nikolay Kupava, Belarusian artist, member of Belarusian Union of Artists, holder of Francysk Skaryna diploma and medal took part in the presentation.
The performance of Zhivoe Slovo, folk literary theatre livened up the event. At the end of the event, the guests could look at a thematic exhibition dedicated to the works of Bahuševič.
