A regional seminar “User service modeling in children’s libraries: methods, ideas and practice” for heads of children’s libraries of the Vitebsk Region was held in the town of Myory, on June 21 and 22.
The event was prepared by the Vitebsk Regional Library named after V.I. Lenin and the Myory Centralized Library System.
A speech of welcome was made by Tatiana Stalmachyonok, the deputy chair of the Myory regional executive committee, Alexander Tronkin, the head of ideological department of the Myory regional executive committee, and Olga Komendantova, the deputy director of the Vitebsk Regional Library.
As part of the seminar, the experience exchange roundtable “The modern practice of the children’s book and reading promotion” was held.
The events were attended by specialists of the National Library of Belarus, Vitebsk Regional Library, Myory Centralized Library System and children’s libraries of the Vitebsk Region.
The National Library of Belarus was represented by Tatiana Sapiego, the head of section of the Bibliology department, who presented a report on interactive methods of book culture comprehension and conducted a master class “Буквіца” (Illuminated Letter) for junior pupils.
The seminar attendees made excursions to local libraries and familiarized themselves with their activities, including thematic exhibitions timed to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book-printing.
Within the framework of the seminar the attendees also visited the ecological center “Yelnya” and the book and print museum at secondary school number 3 in Myory. At the museum the visitors met the historian and researcher of local lore Vitold Ermalyonok.
