Within the framework of the 28th Minsk International Book Fair, an official delivery ceremony of books from the collections of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the National Library of Belarus took place on February 19.

A collection of more than 300 books of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan about the centuries-old history, modern life, cultural achievements, rich national traditions of the country have replenished the stocks of the National Library of Belarus.

Mr Asqar Beisenbaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus attended the event. In his welcoming speech, he expressed hope that the Kazakh book will find its reader in the National Library of Belarus and this event will become a good start for the future cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador presented Mr Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, the letter of acknowledgment of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan for active participation in the celebration of the 175th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly, the great poet, teacher of the Kazakh people, in 2020 at a high organizational level and contribution to strengthening cultural cooperation between two countries .

Ms Umitkhan Munalbayeva, Director General of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented Ms Roman Motulsky with the badge "People's Recognition" of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Alliance of Libraries.

In turn, the Director General of the National Library of Belarus thanked the guests for the valuable gifts and such high awards. In his speech, he noted that the books will definitely find their readers and will be especially interesting for young people from the point of view of history, tourism and other spheres, and presented Ms Umitkhan Munalbayeva the publication “Book Heritage of Belarus”.

As part of the ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between the National Library of Belarus and the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The objectives of this document are to strengthen the interaction between the two libraries in professional activities and to promote the establishment of corporate ties in the field of science and culture.

Mr Bekzat Smagulov, poet, prize-winner of the State Youth Prize "Daryn", performed for the representatives of the science and art society of the two countries at the event.

A sightseeing tour of the library building was held for the guests, during which they were acquainted with the architectural features and history of the Belarusian keeper of knowledge.
