From November 9, 2007 to November 26, 2007, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room is open an exhibition “With the Romantic Sublimity" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Valentin Luksha, the Belarusian poet, writer, translator, and journalist.
Valentin Luksha is the author of the libretto “Purple Dawn” (1979), the staging of “Polessye Chronicles” by Ivan Melezh and “Assol” (1985), the staging of works by Alexander Grin. Valentin Luksha melodic poetry inspired the eminent Belarusian composers Dmitry Lukas, Igor Luchenok, Vladimir Mulyavin, and others.
The exhibition includes 4 sections where are displayed over 70 materials. The first section of the exhibition presents the works by the author from his first book of poetry (1964)to the latest publications (series “Belarusian Poetry of the 21st Century”, 2006). The exposition includes about 20 children books by Valentin Luksha. There are displayed book series “Day of the Poetry” where are collected the best works (1965 – 1984) by Valentin Luksha.
In the second section of the exhibition are displayed works by the poet translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, and Estonian languages.
Valentin Luksha is not only poet and writer but also a talented translator. In the third section of the exhibition are displayed works by Lettish, Tajik, Chuvash, Ukrainian, and Georgian poets translated by Valentin Luksha.
The last section of the exhibition acquaints visitors with the poet’s life and career.
