From November 5th, 2009, to December 5th, 2009, in Belarusian literature reading room (room 205) is open a book exhibition “Wisdom, humor and witted words” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Ivan Kurbeko (1934–2009), the Belarusian poet and literary critic.
The exposition consists of three sections. The first section – “High endeavor of the soul” – displays separate editions of the author’s works: collections of comic poems, books of linguistic riddles and bilingual crosswords.
Ivan Kurbeko many years worked in Y. Kupala and Y. Kolas Museums. In his book “Invitation to the museum” (2008) he praised the memory of the eminent Belarusian writers. Ivan Kurbeko was also the compiler of numerous publications dedicated to Y. Kupala and Y. Kolas. All of them are displayed in this section of the exhibition.
In the section “Feelings, ideas, images” are exhibited the author’s poetry and critical essays published in periodicals and books by collected authors. Ivan Kurbeko was a talented scientist in the field of literary criticism and writer remarkable for his exclusive sense of humor.
The section “Comprehending terrestrial secrets” displays encyclopedias and periodicals dedicated to the author’s life and creative activity.
More than 40 materials are displayed at the exhibition.
