From July З, 2007 to August 6, 2007, in music and audio materials reading room (room 305) is open an exhibition "Understanding the Core" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Dmitry Smolsky, the Belarusian composer.
Dmitry Smolsky belongs to the generation of Belarusian composers which began their creative work in the 1960th and now represent the core of Belarusian composer school. His creative work is a marvelous page of the chronicle of modern Belarusian music. The composer works in various genres: pop music, symphonic music, chamber music, music for concerts, vocal and symphonic music, and opera.
The composer is also a talented pedagogue and Professor of the Belarusian Academy of Music.
Dmitry Smolsky is the BSSR Honored Art Worker, laureate of Belarus Sate Prize. His creative work is inspired by traditions of Belarusian folk and academic music, as well Belarusian culture, art, and literature.
The exhibition comprises over 60 materials from the NLB's collections: music and audio materials, books, and journals. There are works by Dmitry Smolsky and publications dedicated to the composer's life and creative way.
