From 21st May to 25th August, in the National Library of Belarus (2nd floor, circular hall) there runs a thematic book exhibition “Under the parental care”.
A family is the most important social institute of modern society, the basis of formation of a healthy nation. The position of a family in society and the attitude towards it manifest the level of development of economy and culture of a country.
The first section of the exhibition “The society in miniature” presents books in which the family is considered as the basic element of society, the keeper of human values, culture and historical continuity of generations. Known American teacher Felix Adler wrote: “The family is the school of duties – founded on love”.
Despite the centuries-old history of material and spiritual development of civilization, the questions of family relationships, marriage and education of children still remain urgent in the third millennium. The understanding of Christian bases of a family, in other words its strengthening, can be promoted by the literature presented in the section “Family: the sacred true”. Authors of these books stand up for the return of simple Christian virtues such as belief, hope and love.
Wishing to create a reliable, strong and happy family, many young people before the marriage are interested in the art of being together. The exhibition section “The weather in the house!” presents editions on psychology of family relationships, compatibilities of the husband and the wife, settlement of family conflicts and preservation of marriage.
Bringing up a healthy, active and self-assured child, parents give him or her a successful start in life. Children should live in the world of beauty, game, fairy tale and music, they should be able to be friends and act, be responsible, respectful and grateful. For this purpose it is necessary that their mums and dads possess many knowledge and skills. Books presented in the section “Clever parents – happy children!” will teach the adult how to find the mutual understanding with a child, how to develop their physical and mental potential by means of cheerful and fascinating games, how to understand their whims, how to organize living space and education of "especial" children, how to arrange children's holidays, and also how to keep confidential relationships with teenagers.
