The Official documents service department (room 207) hosts a thematic exhibition “The Youth: a dialogue and mutual understanding”, dedicated to the International youth day, from August 11th to September 19th.

The exposition will introduce a reader to the international legal documents and programs, which are adopted to improve the life of a young generation; the materials which disclose issues and tasks put forward in front of the youth; as well as to the documents on the policy of the youth, which is carried out in the Republic of Belarus and other countries.

The exhibition consists of about 90 documents in the Russian and English: books, periodical publications, booklets, leaflets, mimeographed materials. A larger part of the exposition is related to the documents of international organizations, including the UN presentations and reports: world development report, the world report on the youth, the national report on the youth in the Republic of Belarus, the reports of the International labour organization on the occupation of the youth.

The exhibition features the documents: statistic collection, regulatory and legal documents on the youth policy, collection of scientific articles, conference proceedings, study aids, papers, surveys, and monograph.

The exhibition includes the following thematic sections:

  • The youth affairs in the contemporary world
  • International legal documents and programs, related to the youth
  • Education of the youth
  • The youth and labour market
  • The health of the youth
  • The state youth policy in the Republic of Belarus

The exhibition will be interested for the teachers, scholars, students, specialists in the field of demography, sociologists, state administrative bodies employees, as well as to all who are interested in the youth policy issues in our country and the world.

The International youth day is established by the General assembly of the UN on December 17th, 1999 (resolution 54/120) and has been celebrated annually on August 12th since 2000. The World conference of ministers of the youth affairs had suggested establishing the holiday in the conference, which took place in Lisbon in August 1998.

Informing the society about the role, which is played by the youth in the peace working up and building, and reminding about routine issues the youth faces, are the key goals of the celebration. The International youth day is dedicated to the rights of young people on the access to education, proper health care, job opportunities, finance services and full participation in public life.

There are 1.2 billion of the youth in the age from 15 to 24 years, which makes up to 16% of the world population.

Understanding the importance of the issues and tasks the youth faces, the UN applies all efforts to resolve those issues at global scale, regional and national scale.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

The jubilee book exhibition "Singer of Endless Love", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charles Aznavour (1924–2018), takes place from April 25 to June 18 in the musical and audiovisual documents reading room (room 305).
