From June 8, 2007 to July 6, 2007, in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305) is open an exhibition "The Wreath of Belarusian Folk Songs".


Everyone knows that the folk song is one of the most valuable treasures of people's culture. Created by an unknown author but close and clear for everyone, the folk song is shared by people and often gets different nuances, but always saves its emotionality and content. Diversity of subjects and rhythms created by the genius of people, colorful intonations and poetry of Belarusian folk song are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for creative work of classical and modern composers. Sincerity of the folk song reproduced by talented artists fascinates the audience.

The exhibition presents samples of songs of various genres from historical and ethnographical regions of Belarus. There are Christmas and ritual songs, family and home songs (wedding, mourning, and christening) and others. At the exhibition are exposed music editions, books and audio records by eminent performers of the folk song from the NLB's collections.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
