From May 20th to August 31st in the National Library of Belarus (the circular hall on the 2nd floor) is open a subject book exhibition "The world of our hobbies”.
On the eve of summer holidays the National Library of Belarus offers to visitors’ attention a bright, originally designed exhibition that presents useful information on hunting, fishing, beekeeping, naturalism and gardening. This is a peculiar encyclopedia of people’s hobbies.
Hunting as a kind of sports and rest, and as a dialogue with the nature, has developed its own rules and canons, having created the picturesque, remarkable language consecrated by centuries, and has subordinated to traditions everyone entering in this commonwealth.
The section “All about hunting” opens the exposition. Visitors will discover various information on the history of traditional kinds of hunting and will familiarize themselves with the Rules of Hunting in the Republic of Belarus and liability of citizens for their infringement; urgent issues of legal regulation of hunting and hunting grounds maintenance, and trophies registration procedure. The reader will get comprehensive information on the best hunting rifles and sporting guns produced in Russia and other countries, hunting knives, equipment and dogs. Also, there is a gallery of portraits of great hunters.
Art of the most mass hobby, which attracts millions people at any age, is reflected in the section “Fishing: secrets of success”. Visitors of the exhibition will find lots of useful advices based on fishing practice and making the formula of a successful biting: manuals on amateur fishing with the use of spinning and fishing floats with a detailed description of fishing tackles and equipment, accessories, kinds of baits, habits of fishes, techniques and tactics of fishing in all seasons. ”The tasty books” with various recipes of dishes of fish prepared both at house and outdoor also will be useful.
A particular section of the exhibition comprises information on the amateur apiary organization, seasonal works, keeping and breeding of bees; major melliferous plants, breeds of melliferous bees, the beekeeper’s necessary equipment and beekeeping products.
Encyclopedias and reference books on herbs, fruits and berries, useful substances and vitamins, and also advices on their preparation and preservation, and editions on mushroom keeping are collected in section “Entering the wood like entering the temple”.
“Your garden”, the biggest part of the exposition, will betray the experienced gardeners’ secrets.
