From 13 September to 16 October, a book exhibition “The epoch and the artist” timed to the 100th birth anniversary of Belarusian poet, prose writer and translator S.I. Grakhovsky (1913–2002) runs in the Belarusian literature reading room (room 205).


The exposition consists of six thematic sections dedicated to the writer’s life and creative career: “...The song shall live...”, “The mastery starts with the person”, “The sunny path”, “Voices and images”, “My love, my native land”, “That which was experienced and survived””.

The exhibition presents the writer’s books and also collections, music editions and periodicals which contain the author’s works including his first verses published in the journal Belarusian Pioneer (№ 7, 1926; № 3, 1929).

The writer had joined the world of poetry in childhood; thus his debut verse was signed ”Pioneer Sergey Grakhovsky”.

Among the exhibits there is the first poetry collection Birthday published in 1958 (in almost 32 years from the forst publication).

Visitors of the exhibition will have an opportunity to not only touch Sergey Grakhovsky’s poetry but also to get acquainted with his prose and translations of A. Blok, S. Yesenin, A. Gaydar, L. Ukrainka, R. Tagore and pther authors into Belarusian language.

The last exhibition section presents reference editions, encyclopedias and numerous publications devoted to the talented writer.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
