A book exhibition "The dance labyrinth” timed to the International Dance Day runs in the Music and audiovisual documents reading room (No. 305).
Dance is a unique non-verbal way of expression, communication with the outside world, the ability to more easily show the attitude toward themselves and others. This is a language that the whole world understands. And also it is a beautiful and pleasant kind of leisure activities. Dance classes liberate the body and soul helping keep yourself in proper physical shape and creating an interesting social circle. Dance is inseparably connected with the inner emotional world of a human and is embodied in the movements, shapes, compositions.
There are a lot of species, trends and styles of dance. Each of them has its own history, its own purpose, its own characteristics and its own beauty. The offered exhibition highlights the most popular forms of dance: folk, ballroom and modern.
The exhibition includes the publications as follow: books about the history of dance (S.N. Hudenkov The Illustrated History of Dabce (2009), The General History of Dance (2010), E.А. Koroleva The Earliest Forms of Dance (1977), Dance and Art Culture (1997), V.V. Romm The Ancient Dances (2011)); about the kinds of dance (Y.М. Churko The Wreath of Belarusian Dances (1994), L.К. Aleksyutovich Belarusian Polkas (1995), V. N. Nilov The Northern Dance (2001), А.А. Klimov The Basics of Russian Folk Dance (2004), А. Mur Balroom Dances (2004), Е.А. Vasenina The Modern Russian Dance. Dialogues (2005), N.А. Aleksandrova Dance Modern (2011)) etc.
The exposition also features printed music: Three Belarusian Dances (1955), Dances of Peoples of the Worls (1964), Polonezy, kozaki, mazury (1973), А. Corelli Curanta (1931),N.I. Rizol Polka (1962), Е.D. Kuznetsov Modern Russian Dances (1988) etc, and also audio documents: a CD series ballroom Dances, records of dance music performed by the Belarusian bands Haroshki, Nerush etc.
