From November 9, 2007 to November 26, 2007, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition “Chronicler of Fraternal Relations” dedicated to the100th anniversary of Mikhail Larchenko (1907-1981), the literary critic, Doctor of Philology (1956), professor (1957), honored scientist of Belarus (1971).
Mikhail Larchenko is one of founders of Belarusian Soviet literary science and tutor of several generations of Belarusian literary critics.
The exhibition presents the scientific papers, articles and literary reviews by the author, as well as publications dedicated to the scientist’s life and professional career.
Among the displayed materials there are monographs by Mikhail Larchenko dedicated to the realism in Belarusian literature of the 19th – early 20th centuries.
The scientist was interested in Belarusian ancient literature and folklore, traditions and innovations. He is one of compilers of student textbooks “Essays on the History of Belarusian Literature”, “Belarusian Folklore Poetry”, and “Ancient Belarusian Literature”. The visitors can see these publications.
The author dedicated many years to the research of correlation among Belarusian literature and literature of Slavonic peoples. At the exhibition are displayed the subject publications: “Relations of Belarusian Literature with Literature of Neighboring Slavonic Peoples in the Late 19th Century” (1958), collected articles “Slavonic Community” (1963) and “Reunion of Fraternal Literatures” (1974), monographs “The Living Heritage” (1977) and “Literary Brotherhood of the Slavs” (1984).
The exposition presents the works by Mikhail Larchenko dedicated to Belarusian Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Frantisek Bogushevich, Maxim Bogdanovich, Pimen Panchenko, and others.
A particular section of the exhibition presents the works by M. Mushinsky, A. Martinovich, O.Loyko, V. Kozlov, V. Borisenko, and other authors dedicated to Mikhail Larchenko.
