An anniversary exhibition “The Blessed Gift”, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Muraviejka, Belarusian poet, Honoured Cultural Worker of Belarus (1921–2021), is on show in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) from October 13 to November 22.

“I am Ivan from Belarus”, the writer used to say about himself. His name is well known in our country. More than one generation of Belarusians has been brought up influenced by the master's wise and talented books. The author's literary legacy includes numerous poems, short stories, essays, feuilletons, poems, etc.

Ivan Muraviejka wrote mainly for children. The poet had a gift of speaking to children simply, engagingly and sincerely on a wide range of subjects. The writer's writings are filled with kindness and love for children. The author explores the world of children's ideas and teaches patriotism, love of the native land and work in an insightful and witty way. The section "There are so Many Bright Stars in the Sky" presents books for children: "Little Springs", "That's How We Are ", "Sweet Laughs", "Bells in the Blue Sky", "What's the Goat's Name?", etc.

A special place in the work of the writer, a participant of the Great Patriotic Warб takes a military theme. The sincerity of the recollections, the war recordings, the stories about the comrades-in-arms, the poems, ballads and verses, the pieces about military brotherhood are included in the collections "Brought it from the War", "I am Ivan from Belarus", "There was a war", "The road without stops".

The section of the exhibition "From a Sincere Heart" offers readers the writings of Muraviejka in multi authored collections and magazines.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
