A book exhibition presenting editions winners of the National contest “The art of a book – 2010” runs from August 20 up to September 30 at the National Library of Belarus (3rd floor, circular hall).
Traditionally every year, within the framework of the Belarusian Written Language Day and the Libraries Day, an exhibition-presentation of editions winners of the annual National contest “The art of a book” runs at the National Library of Belarus. This year such event takes place on September, 9. The best books begin their honorable way on the Belarusian Written Language Day (September 5, Khoiniki town) when representatives of publishing houses receive honorable diplomas and a memorable badge-symbol “The Gold Volume”.
44 publishing houses and organizations participated in the last 50th contest which took place on May 12–13. They presented more than 250 editions in 24 nominations. The contest judges voted for winners in 12 subject, 6 special and 3 personal nominations.
The book “We’ll Never Forget” edited by the publishing house “Khudozhestvennaya Literatura” took the first place in nomination “Grand-Prix”.
The winners in personal nominations are: Tamara Shelest (“The best illustrator”), Valery Rogalevich (“The best book designer”) and Piotr Kostroma (“The best photographer”).
Visitors of the exhibition will see the best works of Belarusian publishers and brilliant patterns of printing art. The exposition presents the laureates of the contest: books winners of prizes and diplomas. There are about 100 editions classified into three sections: “Subject nominations”, “Social nominations” and “Personal nominations”. All books have information tags.
Besides, there is a special section with Belarusian editions – winners of the VII International contest “The art of a book” among the CIS member countries which took place on June 3-4, 2010 in Moscow. The Republic of Belarus presented in Moscow 32 books winners of the National contest “The art of a book – 2010”. On September 3 during the 23rd Moscow international book fair the award ceremony took place.
The exposition is colorful, informative and interesting to all who follows the development and the current state of Belarusian printing art and publishing activity in the country.
