The National Library of Belarus offers an exhibition that acquaints visitors with books winners of the contest “Art of a Book – 2007” and other publication which represent modern Belarusian printing art.


The Republican contest "Art of a Book” has taken place annually since 1960. The object of the contest is the further development and improvement of Belarusian art of a book. This is a sort of an annual creative report of Belarusian publishers, artists, and polygraphic workers.

During the 47th contest which took place in January 2007, were chosen the best Belarusian publications issued in 2006. The grand-prix – Frantsisk Skaryna Diploma - was awarded to the publishing house “Mastatskaya Litaratura”. As a whole 55 Belarusian publishing houses were rewarded with diplomas and a honorable badge “The Golden Volume”.
The exposition comprises about 200 materials displayed in the sections as follow:
  • national publications;
  • state institutions publishing houses;
  • nongovernmental publishing houses;
  • printing industry;
  • religious publishing houses.
There are publications by different publishing houses. All books winners of the contest are marked with special information labels.
We invite to the exhibition everyone who is interested in the modern Belarusian printing art.
The exhibition is located on the third floor of the circular hall.

Adam Shanyavsky and the library fund of the Nesvizh county school (the last quarter of the XVIII century)

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
