From October 16, 2007 to October 31, 2007, in the National Library of Belarus is open a book exhibition "The Art of Landscape".
The exhibition includes about 150 materials: books, encyclopedias, albums, reproductions, and calendars. The exposed materials reveal the development of the genre of landscape painting from the Middle Ages to today. A numerous illustrated materials acquaints visitors with an individual style and creative heritage of some landscape painters.
The exposition includes such works as “The History of the Painting of All Times and Peoples”(1912 – 1917) by A.N. Benois, the eminent artist and master of dramatic art, “Landscape in the Art” by Clark Kenneth, the eminent English art critic, “Masters and Masterpieces” (in 6 volumes) by Igor Dolgopolov, a talented painter and master of a postcard. Visitors of the exhibition will admire a gallery of great masters of the past and present. Works by eminent researchers reveal the history of Russian art of landscape, (12th – 20th cc.), albums acquaint with lives and creative ways of eminent English, French, Italian, Dutch, and Netherland painters.
The section dedicated to Belarusian landscape painting includes materials concerning the life and creative way of V.K. Belynitsky-Biruly, V. Tsvirko, N. Orda, the master of architectural landscape, N. Duchits, A. Barhatkov, P. Maslennikov, E. Batalyonok, O. Drobyshevsky, and other artists.
A particular section of the exhibition is dedicated to the sea-scape. The exposition presents encyclopedias on painters of sea-scapes of different countries and epochs, particularly to Russian artists.
The last section of the exhibition presents manuals on landscape painting. Beginner artists can acquaint themselves with the essential principles of the art of landscape painting.
The exhibition is located on the second floor in the circular passage (near the gallery “Rakurs”)
