A book exhibition “Solo for the Master”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of one of the leading Belarusian composers, teacher, national artist of Belarus – Dmitry Smolsky, has been opened in music and audiovisual documents reading room (305) since July 13 till August 8.
His music activity is a bright page of Belarusian chronicle of modern music. Yet in the beginning of the 60s D. Smolsky showed himself an original creative personality. Sharply feeling the mood of the time, he managed to unite traditions and innovations in his best works.
The name of Dmitry Smolsky is associated first of all with a symphony, the main sphere of his art interests.
During his life, Smolsky has been actively involved in teaching. He’s got more than 70 students, among whom honored people of art, laureates of the State award and prestigious international composer’s contests are.
The exhibition offers nearly 100 documents, which acquaint visitors with the composer’s musical work.
The main place of the exposition belongs to note editions of Smolsky’s works. These are operas, oratorios for soloists, choir and symphony orchestra, collection of songs, and compositions for symphony orchestra.
It’s possible to listen to audio records of the composer’s pieces of music: Мая Радзіма; ария Аполлона; Белорусский распев; Бассо-остинато; Симфония № 11: ч. 2 Vivace etc.
