From June 16, 2008, to June 30, 2008, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open a book exhibition “Researcher of Belarusian Literature” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Stephan Maykhrovich, the Belarusian literary critic.
Profound knowledge, adherence to principle, a sincere interest for the work, ability to raise above his own opinions – there are criteria to which Stephan Maykhrovich was devoted.
Materials displayed at the exhibition acquaint visitors with scientific work of the researcher, including studies of Belarusian literature before the October Revolution (1917) and Soviet Belarusian literature, and as well folklore.
At the exhibition are displayed books by the author: “Essays on Belarusian Literature of the XIX-th Century” (1957, second edition 1959), “Essay on the History of the Ancient Belarusian Literature of the XIVth – XVIIIth Centuries” (1980), “The Word about Igor’s Regiment” (1968), “Proverbs. Historical Essay”(1976).
At the exhibition are as well displayed numerous monographs by the author dedicated to the activity of Belarusian cultural workers and educators, and writers.
Among them – interesting works dedicated to the eminent Belarusian writers, poets, and educators Frantisek Skaryna, Yanka Luchina, Frantisek Bogushevich, Vincent Dunin-Martsinkevich, Maxim Bogdanovich, Yanka Kozyrka, and Ivan Shamyakin.
Besides that, the exposition acquaints visitors with works by the author published in periodicals and collected articles.
At the exhibition are as well displayed works by different authors with forewords by Stephan Maykhrovich, and materials dedicated to the author’s life and career.
