A book exhibition "Music, the language of the soul” timed to the 60th birthday of Galina Gorelova, the Belarusian composer and honored art worker of Belarus, runs from February 24 to April 12 at the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305).
The name of Galina Gorelova – the professor at the Belarusian State Academy of Music, laureate of Lenin Komsomol of Belarus Prize (1986), the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus (1992) and the President’s of the Republic of Belarus Special Prize (2001) – is well known in the music world.
The composer’s creative heritage incorporates multiple talented works such as cantatas “In the Year of the World Fire” (1989), “One Thousand Years of Hope” (1990), the symphonic poem “Bandarouna” (1986), instrumental concertos (for oboe, violin, viola, guitar, balalaika, trombone, trumpet), chamber and instrumental musical compositions, compositions for choir, vocal cycles, and also music for theater and radio plays.
The exhibition presents printed music by Galina Gorelova “Song f the Old Mill”, “Dazhinki”, “Troitsa Frescos”, “Musical Drawings”, “The Paper Ballerina”, “Five Vocalizes”, “Three Portraits of Radoslava” and others, and also audio records “Two Winter Engravings”, “The Waltz of the Twenty-Years-Old” from the cantata “In the Year of the World Fire”, “Concerto for Oboe and String Orchestra”. Books and articles about the composer’s life and career are displayed at the exposition as well.
