From 3 June to 31 July, an exhibition "Music of a big breathing" dedicated to the 110th anniversary from the date of the birth of Armenian composer, conductor, teacher Aram Khachaturian runs in the Music and Audio Materials Reading Room (room 305).
Aram Khachaturian is well known among music lovers around the world. His original and colorful style can be recognized from the very first sounds. A powerful temperament and energy of his music, a vivid emotional melody, various kinds of dance sounds, a delicacy plastic of music, generous vividness and splendid orchestra scores enthrall every listener.
In his work, Aram Khachaturian extremely subtly conveys the mood of his characters. The composer’s music is very full, therefore there is no necessity to add any words. This music includes both ancient folk tunes and modern chords.
The exhibition presents to the public attention Aram Khachaturian’s works written in different genres. Visitors have an opportunity to see musical editions of the world famous ballets Spartacus and Gayane, three symphonies, three concertos for solo instruments (violin, piano, cello) with an orchestra, three rhapsodies. There are on display the composer’s songs, music for theater and movies (to a comedy by Lope de Vega The Valencian Widow, a drama by Lermontov Masquerade, a play by B. Lavrenev Lermontov); suites to ballets, theatrical performances, movies; piano music, compositions for violin, cello, chamber ensembles; works set to music for accordion, and plays for children written in different years.
The exposition also presents audio documents of the composer’s works. It contains books about the life and work of the master and a lot of pictures.
