In 1822 in Naples took place the premiere of his opera “La zingara” which brought to the composer the first great success. The composer worked in Naples during some years. There he used to lead an orchestra and write about 5 operas per year. The opera “Anna Bolena” presented in 1830 in Milan brought to the composer an international fame. Theopera“Lucia di Lammermoor” (1835) had the greatest success. It became a model of Italian romantic opera full of fatal passions, tragic denouement and dominant image of the heroine. The success of operas was in many respects conditioned by the skill of opera singers Giuditta Pasta, Giulia Grisi and other.
