The exhibition "Listen with your heart…" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Belarusian composer, pianist Y. Siemianiaka (1925–1990) is held in the Music and audiovisual documents reading room (305) from November 19 to December 9.
The main genre of the works of Yury Siemianiaka was the song. He wrote more than 300 songs, mainly to the poems of Belarusian poets. The songs about the Motherland were one of the main themes of his songwriting, and these songs are full of tender feelings and light colors. Siemianiaka was awarded the State Prize of the BSSR (1972) for his patriotic songs.
The songs of the composer are in the repertoire of such ensembles as Песняры, Сябры, Верасы. He is the author of 4 operas (the most famous are Зорка Венера (Star Venus) based on the works of M. Bahdanovič and Новая земля (New Earth) based on the works of Y. Kolas), musical comedies, cantatas, Belarusian operetta (musical comedy Павлинка (Pavlinka) based on Kupala’s play), music to films, radio and television dramas.
Songs are a typical feature of all his works. The melodic generosity, honesty and sincerity of intonations, lyricism, a close relationship with the traditional Belarusian music, and the Belarusian folklore – these qualities have always been reflected in the works of Siemianiaka, who is the author of wonderful songs Явар і каліна, Ты мне вясною прыснілася, Беларусь – мая песня, Травы дзяцінства, Люблю цябе, Белая Русь!, Не за вочы чорныя.
The basis of the exhibition is music editions of the composer’s songs. The songbooks Лірычныя песні (1963), Беларусь – мая песня (1971), Табе маё прызнанне (1974), Поёт ансамбль "Песняры" (1974), Спяваюць "Песняры" (1975), Я сэрцам з табой (1976), Мая Радзіма (1979), Наш край (1984), Поёт "Журавінка" (1984), Поют "Верасы" (1985), etc. are on the shelves of the exposition.
Excerpts from the opera Калючая ружа, Арии и сцены из оперетт (Arias and Scenes from Operettas), cantatas Памяти Константина Заслонова (To the Memory of Kanstatcin Saslonaǔ), В венок Максима Богдановича (In the Wreath of Maksim Bahdanovič), choirs, romances, editions of Belarusian folk songs are in the exposition.
