The thematic exhibition "Under the Same Sky" timed to the International Translation Day is held from October 5 to November 13 in the Belarusian Literature reading room (room 205).

The craft of translation exists from ancient times. Many tribes inhabiting the Earth spoke different languages ​​and they had to find mutual understanding in order to establish communications. The emergence of writing contributed to the development of translation, which became a full mediator between cultures. One of the most complex and common types of translation is literary. It plays an important role in the inter-literary relations, it is a means of spiritual mutual enrichment and rapprochement of peoples, it enhances the culture of the native language.

The exhibition dedicated to the International Day of the Interpreter opens the section "From the language to the language the bridge has been thrown...", containing selected translations of foreign fiction into the Belarusian language. Visitors will could get acquainted with the work of such translators as V. Semukha, Y. Semezhon, V. Ragoysha, A. Khodonovich, A. Kolyada and others. The collection also includes collections of translations of poetry, prose, dramaturgy.

With a series of translations of foreign authors into the Belarusian language "World Literature Legacy", "Poets of the Planet" and others are presented in the section "The Ocean of Light Thoughts".

The Children's literature is presented in the section "The Book for the Night": "Peter Pan" by J. M. Barry, "Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There" by L. Carroll, "The Chronicles of Narnia" by K.S. Lewis, fairy tales by O. Wilde, A. Lindgren, S. Nordqvist, T. Jansson will be interesting both for children and the adult audience.

Belarusian-language works in translations into the languages ​​of the peoples of the world are placed in the section "Singing strings of the Belarusian soul. There are works by Y. Kupala, Y. Kolas, M. Bogdanovich, R. Borodulin, V. Bykov, V. Korotkevich and other writers.

Studies on the theory and practice of literary translation are devoted to the section "The word to be let out", containing bibliographic indexes, individual monographs (I. Charot, N. Denisova, E. Tabolich, M. Bulakhov, etc.), articles published in numerous collections and magazines.

The exposition presents more than 200 documents.


The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
