From October 15th, 2009, to November 2nd, 2009, in graphic and video materials reading room (room 307) is open a subject exhibition “Incentive art” dedicated to naïve artists of the world.
Interest to naïve art has an old history. Its roots go back to the late XIX- early XX centuries. Bright artificial colors, absence of laws of prospect and childly naïve or literal vision are inherent in primitive art. Such known artists as A.Rousseau and K. Bombois in France, N.Pirosmanashvili in Georgia, I.Generalich in Croatia, A. Robertson ("Grandmother Mozes") in the USA and others worked in this style. Owing to the bright originality of images and expressive means, works by these painters have taken a visible place in art culture of the time and noticeably influenced its development.
The exposition totals more than 60 documents: albums, books, articles, postcards and replicas of works by artists-primitives. A particular section of the exhibition is dedicated to Belarusian “naïve” artists.
The exposition is designed for everyone who is interested in the history of fine art and primitivism.
