The anniversary exhibition "I Found Myself in a Song" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the composer David Tukhmanov is on show from July 8 to November 3 in the Music and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (room 305).
The work of David Tukhmanov, the national artist of Russia, is well known to the inhabitants of the post-Soviet space. “How Wonderful This World Is”, “The Opposite Eyes”, “The Victory Day”, “My Address is the Soviet Union”, “The Last Train” became the hits of the Soviet stage. The composer’s songs replenished the repertoire of such famous performers as I. Kobzon, S. Rotaru, V. Leontyev, V. Obodzinsky, the ensemble “Funny Guys” and “Gems”.
For creativity of Mr Tukhmanov is characterized not only by classic pop songs, but also by innovative compositions. He uses both a rich arsenal of pop music of various styles, including rock, and the techniques of symphonic, chamber, instrumental music in his works.
In addition, David Tukhmanov works with musical projects for children, writes music for drama performances, radio shows and films. The composer tries himself in new genres in recent years. He created cycles of ballads and romances to verses by I. Annensky, G. Trakl, A. Pushkin, the poem for violin and orchestra “Holy Night”, the opera “Tsaritsa”, the oratorio “The Legend of Ermak”.
The exhibition shows us numerous musical collections with songs by David Tukhmanov, the song cycles for children "Byaki-Buki", "Familiar Insects", "Golden Hill" and others.
Audio documents introduce David Tukhmanov’s albums “On the Wave of My Memory”, “UFO”, “How Beautiful the World is”, “Steps”, “War Songs”, make it possible to listen to the songs of the composer performed by famous pop singers.
