From January 20th to February 15th in the Belarusian literature reading room 205 is open a book exhibition “He has looked into the soul of centuries” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Leonid Dayneko.
Leonid Dayneko is the Belarusian writer, translator, winner of I. Melezh Literary Prize of the Union of Writers of Belarus (1987) and K. Kalinovsky State Prize of Belarus (1990).
Love of the native land, interest to its history and anxiety for the destiny of the Fatherland run all through the books of the writer. Leonid Dayneko began his literary career as a poet. His first book of collected verses “The Voices” was published in 1969. Leonid Dayneko became a prolific prose writer as well; his historical novels are well-known both in Belarus and abroad. The works by the author are remarkable for the realistic narration, thrilling plots and an original language. Actually the books by the writer are studied at schools.
At the exhibition are displayed books of poetry, novels by the author as well as works which were not edited separately but published in journals only. There are as well books by Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Tatar authors translated by Leonid Dayneko into Belarusian language.
In the particular section of the exhibition are displayed books by the writer translated into foreign languages. The section of the exhibition “The innovator in life and literature” acquaints with publications from encyclopedias and books by literary critics O. Shinkarenko, S. Andrayuk, D. Bugayov, and I. Dyubaylo dedicated to the life and creative activity of Leonid Dayneko.
The exposition totals about 100 documents.
