“Harmony of Life,” a book-illustrative exhibition timed to the 100th anniversary of the painter Valeriana Zholtok (1919–2000) is open in the Fine Arts Reading Room (306), from December 13 to January 15.
A talented woman, skilled colorist and thoughtful artist with a subtle perception of the world, Valeriana Zholtok, is a representative of Belarusian art of the twentieth century.
Restrained and laconic in life, she transferred to canvases the wealth of her emotions and feelings. And indeed, her works painted in clear colors embrace the sense of harmony of life, delight with the beauty of the world and create a "celebration for the eyes."
Valeriana Zholtok was a multifaceted personality, which is reflected in her work: here are the images of children, school life, weekdays of a Soviet person, portraits of “men of the people,” the war... Still life and landscape were the true calling of the painter. Her talent most vividly revealed in these genres, to which she had brought a sincere national spirit.
The offered exhibition presents reproductions of the works by Valeriana Zholtok, and also exhibition catalogs, essays of art critics, biography books and more.
