On the eve of the International Women’s Day the National Library of Belarus offers a book exhibition "For you, Woman!” which runs from 3 March to 31 March (2nd floor, circular hall).


A Woman has been always regarded as a great gift of Nature, as a grantor of a new life. She was worshipped and idolized. “The Mother of the World. How many exceptionally touching and powerful have merged in this sacred concept of all centuries and people. Women, it will be you who weave and unwrap the banner of the world. You will build a fire at each hearth, the beautiful fire, creating and encouraging at once. A great and beautiful deed is bequeathed to you, women!”, – said Nicolay Rerikh.

One of the exhibition sections is dedicated to famous women in the world history from antiquity to present day. There are books about the outstanding women whose names became a legend: politicians, scientists, writers and artists.

The masterpieces of love lyrics and the diamonds of the world poetry, from antiquity to present day, which glorify the beauty, tenderness and feminity of a woman, are displayed at the particular section. The book “Aphorisms. Great Women about Men and Love” containing witty statements of famous women such as Coco Chanel, Sarah Bernard, Agatha Christi, George Sand, Marlene Dietrich, Great Garbo and others will attract readers’ interest as well.

Besides, the section presents a range of books dedicated to the Woman: the novels of Henry James “Portrait of a Lady”, Takeo Arishima “The Woman”, Maria Arbatova “My Name is Woman”, Jerome K. Jerome’d short story “A Charming Woman” and many others.

The section “The Woman’s magic” offers a variety of books on fashion, make up and hair styles.

The exhibition "For you, Woman!” is located in the circular hall on the second floor and runs from March 3 to March 31.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
