From April 1, 2008, to May 20, 2008, in the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) is open an exhibition "At the Attitude of Experience" dedicated to the к 75-th anniversary of Victor Shimuk (1933-1998), the Belarusian poet, prose writer, essayist, and translator.
Poetry by Victor Shimuk are remarkable for vital subjects, sincerity, and realistic images of a modern human’s spiritual life.
The exhibition totals about 50 materials.
At the exposition are displayed the first book by the poet – a poem of a young partisan (1960); collected children poetry (1962 - 1964); and collected poetry published between 1968 and 1990.
The poetry by Victor Shimuk inspired various composers. At the exhibition are displayed works by Victor Shimuk which were set to music, including collected songs by P. Russov and music by V. Ivanov, I. Kuznetsov, M. Petrenko, K. Tesakov, P. Shidlovsky, and other composers.
At the exhibition are displayed as well collected stories and essays by Victor Shimuk published between 1969 and 1974.
