A book exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Belarusian writer Maxim Luzhanin (1909–2001) runs in the Belarusian literature hall (205), from October 15 to December 27.

Maxim Luzhanin (Alexander Karatay) –is a patriarch of Belarusian literature. His heritage is extremely rich: poems, novels and short stories, critical essays and works for children, memoirs, notes about the language, movie scripts and translations. Though writing in different genres, the author remained faithful to poetry. Luzhanin’s verses reveal the essence of complex phenomena, the fate of one person through the fate of an entire generation and the history of the country.

The exhibition presents the collections of the author’s poetry and prose; critical essays and memoirs; literary translations of Pushkin, Mayakovsky, Mickiewicz, Griboedov, Gogol, Fadeev and other wroetrs into the Belarusian language, as well as essays of critics and biographers about the life and work of Maxim Luzhanin.

About 220 publications are on display.


The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by library card or by ticket of the library's social and cultural center. Information and tickets may be obtained at the registration desk.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
