Ms Aksana Knizhnikava, Director General of the National Library of Belarus, opened the event with a welcome speech. Invited experts, including Mr Andrej Basalyga, Deputy Chairperson of the Public Association "Belarusian Union of Artists" responsible for the issues of creative work, Ms Kaciaryna Izafatava, graphic artist and art historian, Head of the Department of Belarusian Art of the 20th–21st centuries of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus and Ms Larysa Finkielstejn, art historian, founder of the first Belarusian gallery, non-profit author's conceptual gallery "Brama" shared their professional opinion. Ms Maryna Baciukova, an admirer of documentary and conceptual photography and the author, told the audience interesting stories of the photographs she created and made a review of her work.

The exhibition introduces visitors to the author's art, presents a series of pieces characteristic of her, and reveals the essence of her many years of creative pursuits and their originality. The main themes of her explorations are everyday life, psychological portraits, and the relationship between the individual and the environment.

The exhibition is a visual diary of personal impressions of the countries, artistic inventions and unique images. The pictures were taken during the travels around Germany, Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, France and Armenia in 2014–2015.

The exhibition seems to consist of annual layers of wood, reflecting the experience of a journey through the cultural environment, acquaintance with the peculiarities of the city and people. Images are layered on top of each other, creating a frame, a composition message, rich in nuance and detail.

One layer tells about one story of a city or a street, and another layer, impression or even a portrait, appears in the background. This gives the previous frame depth, meaning and value. Expressive, ambient author's photo stories convey the unique originality of the country in a more extensive, subjective and delicate way than a direct photograph. The viewer gets the opportunity to flip through the pages of the artist's memory and impressions, painted with light and shadow.

All this creates a unique authorial space of impressions, a space between reality and personality, between the dream and the experience of presence.

The cost is included in the price of the Observation Deck ticket.
The exhibition will run until December 19.
The end date is subject to change.
