On March 25, 2009, within the framework of the Days of the Greek culture in the Republic of Belarus, in National Library of Belarus’ art galley “Rakurs” was held a holiday dedicated to the Greece culture.


The event was arranged by Belarusian Union of Greeks ““Peloponnesus”, Embassy of Greece in the Russian Federation and National Library of Belarus.

R.N. Delyanov, Chairman of the Council of Belarusian Union of Greeks “Peloponnesus”, L.G. Kiryukhina, the NLB’s Deputy Director for library science and public relations, V.B. Lameko, Deputy Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities of the Republic of Belarus and others participated in the event.

At the event Belarusian Union of Greeks “Peloponnesus” handed to National Library of Belarus a book collection on the history and culture of Greece. Winners of a contest on the history and language of antique and modern Greece which had taken place in Molodechno town (Minsk region) on March 10, 2009 received their prizes.

The book exposition, the exhibition of painting by Irina Gilep and Pavel Dimitriadi, and the photo-exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of Greece were opened within the framework of the holiday.

Guests of the holiday enjoyed performances of Artiom Akhpash, laureate of three All-Belarusian festivals of national cultures, dance group from Molodechno, winners of the 7th Republican festival of national cultures, and young Greek artist Xenia Chalopulo, laureate of the 7th Republican festival of national cultures.

The exhibition is open till April 20, 2009.

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
