On May 12, 2009, in National Library of Belarus was opened a historical and cultural project “Treasures of the home land: Oshmiyany region”. The event was held in the framework of the Year of the Home Land proclaimed by Belarusian government in 2009.
The event was arranged by National Library of Belarus and Administration of Oshmiyany region.
This is the first project of the national program "Treasures of the home land” which object is to promote the history and rich historical and cultural heritage of Belarusian regions.
The project “Treasures of the home land: Oshmiyany region” included the following events:
- exhibition of works by craftspeople and artists from Oshmiyany;
- book exhibition "Oshmiyany region on the map of Belarus” from the collections of Oshmiyany Regional Central Library;
- exhibition of works by photographer Tamara Filippovich;
- exhibition of works by Sergey Shemet, the member of Belarusian Union of Artists;
- exhibition of works by photographer Valery Dubovsky, the director of “Younipak” publishing house;
- presentation of a book by Christophe Dorogostaysky “Science of Horses” edited by “Younipak” publishing house;
- installation presented by the equestrian center “Gippika” (Grintsy village, Oshmyany region).
Oshmiyany region is famous for its rich history, unique architecture monuments, as well as sport and tourist centers. This is home of the eminent Belarusian artists, poets, public figures and scientists.
Representatives of Belarusian ministries, artists, cultural workers, scientists and eminent natives of Oshmiyany region participated in the event.
