The exhibition "Nikolai Gusovsky. Ballad of the Bison", honouring the 500th anniversary of the poem's first publication, has debuted on April 13 at the Atrium gallery (3rd floor).

Books featuring pictures of Arlen Kashkurevich, Boris Zaborov, Evgeni Kulik, and Vladimir Savich, are highlighted. Mature artists – Vsevolod Sventokhovsky, Andrey Vasilevsky, Stanislav Sugintas, Mikhail Shikov, Daria Shikova, Elizaveta Pastushenko, as well as undergraduates, students, and students of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and Gymnasium–College of Arts named after I.V. Akhremchik – share their impressions and perspectives on the work as significant in the history of Belarussian culture.

Translators also worked fruitfully on the work. The exhibition features a well–known translation of the poem into Belarusian by Yazep Semezhon, translations into Russian and Bulgarian.

Aksana Knizhnikava, the director general of the Belarusian National Library, as well as Peter Bogdanov, the deputy director for academic affairs of the I.V. Akhremchik Gymnasium–College of Arts, Vsevolod Sventokhovsky, an associate professor and dean of the Faculty of design and decorative arts of the Belarussian state academy of arts, and Evgeny Shunejko, a candidate in art history and an associate professor of the department of history and theory of arts of the Belarusian state art academy, all attended the event.

500 years since the first edition of the poem – a significant event for the Belarusian culture. The publication, which arouses interest among the general public, and in our time, and in many centuries to come, will remain a majestic hymn to its land, its nature, and the courageous soul of the people.

The exhibition will run until May 30, 2023.
The date of the exhibition can be changed.

Entrance is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
