From February 24th to March 15th, in the gallery “Panorama” is open the exhibition of the eminent Ukrainian master of photography Igor Gaiday.
The event is organized by the Embassy of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with National Library of Belarus.
The artist presents the three author’s projects: “The Space of Ukrainian Bread”, “The Ukrainians” and “9 Months+3 Days”.
The first project is based on a simple but unusual view on bread. The second project is a collection of photo portraits of Ukrainian people, eminent and unknown, common and eccentric, old and young, all of which have a common feature – they all can be themselves before the lens. The third project presents a series of photographs that are a visual evidence of love and a portrait of the absolute happiness which announces itself with the cry of each new-born baby.
These works have already been exhibited in Ukraine and Europe and widely covered by media. The books “The Ukrainians” and “9 Months+3 Days” have been published on the basis of the two artist’s projects.
On the exhibition opening day, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus
Igor Likhovy, National Librarian of Belarus Roman Motulsky and author Igor Gaiday delivered their speeches.
Victor Andruschenko, the rector of M. Dragomanov National Pedagogical University, Irina Scherbanyuk, the art critic, and Fyodor Yastreb, the head of the gallery and exhibition department of National Library of Belarus participated in the event.Besides the large-format photographs, the exposition presents the photo-books by Igor Gaiday “The Ukrainians” and “9 Months+3 Days” which include several works that are not displayed in the gallery “Panorama”. When the exhibition has ended the books will be handed to National Library of Belarus.
