On 4 December, the opening of the international art exhibition "Inspired" dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Lesya Ukrainka’s first poetry collection Na krilakx pіsen (On the Wings of Songs) was held at the gallery Panorama.

The Minsk International Women’s Club of wives of ambassadors, diplomats and foreign representatives in the person of the creative association Art Diplomacy organized this art exhibition at the National Library of Belarus. The Library in its turn brought a book exhibition dedicated to the poetess’s creative work to the audience attention.

The exhibition contains a cycle of calligraphic paintings made by the master in the Far Eastern technique of painting, artistic director of the association Art Diplomacy Marina Elyashevich and works by members of artistic association Art Diplomacy. For the first time a series of graphic works and paintings The Fascinating World of Ukraine’s Nature was presented to the public by the spouse of Advisor of the Embassy of Ukraine Natalia Sukhovetskaya, the spouse of Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia Anush Babayan, the spouse of the former Judge of the CIS Economic Court Natalia Apostol (Moldova). Each of the authors in their own way expressed their attitude to the Ukrainian theme, revealed in it something entirely new, romantic, exciting, and chose a very concise and emotional means of artistic expression. As the great poetess, the exhibitors enriched their works with vivid impressions from Lesya Ukrainka’s native land with its endless expanses, the wealth of sea, river, mountain and lowland landscapes.

At the exhibition the creativity of Candidate of the Study of Art, member of the Belarusian Artists’ Union Yevgeny Shuneyko is presented by a picturesque work devoted to high feelings of Lesya Ukrainka and Sergei Merzhinsky, their meetings in Minsk, as well as by textile compositions dedicated to the poetess’s heartfelt love for the Homeland.

The author of the posters Lesya Ukrainka as the Winged Bird prepared to the exhibition is the art-designer, teacher at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts Alexander Fomenko. He found a very original solution in accordance to which he united the image of the poetess with symbols of a flight, a blossoming field and folk art.

The renowned graphic artist Vladimir Sytchenko represented two compositions made in the technique of computer graphics Ways of Poetic Inspiration in which he expressed his admiration to Lesya Ukrainka’s unique poetry images.

All the artists agree that Lesya Ukrainka is the first poetess in the Slavic world who has reached the highest epic point in her creative career. They devote their new works to her incomparable talent and hope that the exhibition will find a sincere response in the hearts of the audience, as it has been in the performance of the Ukrainian song Krinіtsya by a folk choir at the opening ceremony.

The exposition is available to the audience attention since 5 December.

The entrance to the exhibition is requiring payment, and the cost is equal to the visiting of the Library’s Observation Platform.
