National Library of Belarus to Take Part at IFLA 2019

The annual General Conference and Assembly of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is the main library forum in the world. This organization was created in 1927 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Today it comprises 1400 members from 140 countries, and is a leading international institution representing the interests of library and information services and their users. This is the global voice of the library and information profession.

Minsk, the Capital of My Country

The city of Minsk was first mentioned in The Tale of Bygone Years, relating to the events of 1067. By decree of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Alexander, on March 14, 1499 Minsk, like other big cities, received the Magdeburg Law, and on January 12, 1591 the city was granted its own coat of arms: the image of Our Lady on a blue background between two angels and cherubs.
