On April 12, 2007, in the gallery exhibition complex of the National Library of Belarus took place an opening ceremony of the international painting exhibition Homo Pulcher".


The name of the project "Homo Pulcher" ("Human Beautiful") reveals its conception: reflexions about beauty of a human. Using various techniques, artists reveal the essence of beauty of the human and the society.

About 90 artists from Lithuania, the USA, Ukraine, Serbia, Russia, and other countries participated in the event.

During the opening of the exhibition took place the performance of a music group “Silver Wedding”; Vitaly Belous, the bodybuilding champion of Belarus; ballroom dances school “Elegance”, and Nicole, the variety artiste. Besides that, there took place Sergey Nagorny’s model agency fashion show. The exhibition invite visitors to see and touch the beauty.

In the event participated Lyudmila Kiryukhina, the deputy director for library science and public relations, Y.M. Sakhuta, the chancellor of Belarusian Masters of Folk Art Union, andforeign artists.

News

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
