On July 31st, the National Library hosted a solemn opening of the biggest exhibition of painting and graphic arts of the Chinese People's Republic.


Works of art presented at the exhibition are the true “golden fund” of Chinese contemporary art. Though few in number, the works on display have a very wide thematic area and different forms of expression. The pictures reflect the lyrics of a military life, display the sketches of national life; the intensity of life in big cities and boundless landscapes with mountains, rivers, flowers and birds in the nature. The panorama of modern China is displayed with a special expressively.

The works of art for mobile exhibitions are performed in different techniques and concern to different styles. This is guohua (Chinese national painting) and oil painting, engraving and water color, comics etc.

First deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Alena Daǔgapolava, Minister of Culture of Belarus Barys Sviatloǔ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Chinese People’s Republic to Belarus Cui Qiming, deputy of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wu Changjiang and chairman of the Confederation of Creative Unions of Belarus and director of the National Art Museum of Belarus Uladzimir Prakapcoǔ took part in the ceremony of opening.

The exhibition of contemporary Chinese painting and graphic art is held within the bounds of the visit to Belarus of the delegation of the Chinese Culture and Arts Association led by the Association deputy chairman Mrs. Zhao Shi.

The exhibition will run till August 10th, 2015, in the gallery “Rakurs” (on the 2nd floor).

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
