We invite you to visit the exhibition "Clothes of our Ancestors. The 18th and 19th Century Art Drawing" opened on June 14 in the "Rakurs" gallery (2nd floor).
The sketches by Russian and foreign artists have often became a valuable source for studying the history and culture of the people. In their works they had tried to capture something that were strucking the imagination, seemed unusual and exotic, and traditional clothes too.
In Russia, interest in national art has appeared only in the late 18th century, but the first serious research on this topic have been implemented only in the second quarter of the 19th century.
