On February 20th, the National Library of Belarus hosted a literary soiree and presentation of Elena Adamchik’s book Diamonds of Belarus.


Elena Adamchik’s book project “Women of…” started in 2004 and since then it has been carried out both in Belarus and abroad. Her new sixth book Diamonds of Belarus is dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the salon “Smolenskie brillianty” in Minsk and the project ”Women of…”.

The edition is about successful women of Belarus. It portraits their characters with a number of photos made by the author. Heroines of the book share their ideas on the family and daily cares and advise how to achieve a dream and make the future perfect.

“Tomorrow young girls will look this edition through, and they will want to be similar to these beauties”, director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky said at the presentation. Also he told about a long-term cooperation between Elena Adamchik and the National Library expressing his keen interest in further joint projects.

As part of the event there took place a ceremony of donation of the book Diamonds of Belarus to the National Library of Belarus where five earlier Elena Adamchik‘s books of the series “Women of…” are kept. Besides, the exhibition of portraits of the book heroines is open in the gallery “Rakurs” on the 2nd floor.

The first personal art exhibition of Elena Adamchik “Nude veritas” took place in Warsaw in 1992. After that her photos have been on display in different cities and countries of Europe.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
