The exhibition of painting "Bright colors of the Cornflower” devoted to the International Child Protection Day opened in the National Library of Belarus on 26 May.

The exposition presents paintings by pupils of the art studio “Vasiliok” (“Cornflower”) of the Minsk Regional State special boarding school for children with hearing impairment.

The creativity allows children to expand their possibilities of perception of the world, communication and self-expression. The picture on display prove once again that art has a powerful healing effect not only for the young artists, but also for the spectators, who can see the world through the eyes of special children, those with a keen sense of beauty and especially subtle visual perception of all that is happening around. The “speaking” paints graphically convey the inner mood, thoughts and wishes of the young artists.

Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus Elena Dolgopolova thanked the children and the teachers of the art studio for the bright works carrying a charge of vivacity and joy to all visitors of the panoramic gallery. "The opening of the exhibition on the eve of the summer holidays and on the threshold of the Child Protection Day has become a tradition which we will maintain and repeat from year to year," the Deputy Director said.

The event was attended by Director of the Minsk Regional Center for Correction and Development Training and Rehabilitation Nina Viktorovskaya. She said she was very happy to see the children as joyful as their paintings, and expressed gratitude to the National Library which had opened its doors to talented young stars during many years.

Leading specialist of the special education department Galina Telesh wished the young artists plenty of spectators and fans. "For a creative person, it is very important to feel the recognition and admiration in the eyes of the audience, and the National Library gives the children such an opportunity," she stressed.

Artist Vasily Kuzmich who attended the exhibition highly appreciated the paintings. He was pleasantly surprised that the children’s works were often exhibited abroad, in countries such as France, Germany and Japan, while not every mature artist can afford it. This is the best proof of great teamwork of teachers and children. And even if not all the kids become great artists, all the value of what is happening is that a person who is engaged in art since childhood will never go on a bad road in life.

Elena Talchuk, the Chair of the Minsk regional branch of the Belarusian Association of the Deaf congratulated the children and wished them creative achievements.

The woman who does everything possible for the happiness of her pupils, Director of the Minsk Regional State special boarding school for children with hearing impairment Inna Volchek expressed gratitude to the National Library for the assistance in organizing the exhibition. "Our young artists are talented, cute guys. These children know firsthand what the difficulties are, so may they meet many kind and helpful people on their path of life,” she wished.

Nadiezhda Prokopovich, the Art Director of the art studio “Vasiliok” helps the young talents to achieve success and recognition. She noted that their sixth exhibition in the “temple of science and culture” was dedicated to not only the upcoming International Children's Day, but also the Year of Culture and the 125th anniversary of Belarusian poet Maxim Bogdanovich, whose poetic image of the cornflower was of particular importance. Describing the work of the kids the Art Director highlighted the main feature: all the pictures were painted with heart. By capturing the most subtle changes in nature and the world around them, the children are sent to each viewer a part of their warm-heartedness.

Also the children prepared creative turns which made the event particularly touching: the choreographic composition Darling, the song from the movie The Days of the Turbins and the song Good Faces in hand-language performance.

The exhibition will run till 27 June, 2016.

From 27 May entrance to the exhibition is paid, the amount is equal to the observation deck entrance fee.
