On October 12 at the Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus took place the opening ceremony of the exhibition project "Book Avant-Guard”.


The project is conceived as a series of small exhibitions of avant-guarde graphic artists. The first project exhibition “ Kliun, Piotr Lvov and Nina Khlebnikova” consists of 17 water-colors and drawings the earliest of which dates from 1909 and the last one – 1936.

Connoisseur of avant-guard and collector Leonid Zaks whose ancestors hail from Belarusian Polyessye helps in realization of the project. The Zaks’ family collection is in Switzerland and is regularly represented in artistic and scientific circles of Europe and Russia.

Deputy Director for Research and PR of the National Library of Belarus Lyudmila Kiryukhina opened the exhibition.

Collector Leonid Zaks, Deputy Director of the Museum of the History of Minsk City Piotr Khatko, and head ofthe exhibit maintenance section of the National Library of Belarus and curator of the project Larissa Mikhnevich participated in the event.

The exhibition at the Book Museum runs up to December 20, 2010.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).

A new project of the National Library of Belarus is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War – "Reading newspaper lines with your heart. On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders."
Every week from January to August 2024, the portal of the National Library publishes materials from newspapers of Soviet Belarus in 1944, reflecting the chronicle of news and events of that time.
