On January 30th, the opening ceremony of a charitable art project “The world outside the window” was held at the National Library of Belarus.

The project participants are specialized state institutions for people with disabilities. During the opening ceremony their students and patients showed their talents.

Thus, students of the Minsk Regional State Special Boarding School of General Education for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children performed a musical pantomime; patients of Psychoneurological Hostel № 2 presented a musical composition of the ensemble “Alexander Band”, and the Hostel for Children with Mental and Physical Disabilities showed a series of animated films made by studio “We Do Exist” and performed theatrical etudes.

At the opening ceremony of the project “The world outside the window” spoke: Deputy Director of the National Library of Belarus for user service and ideology Elena Dolgopolova, chairman of the International Guild of Painters Fyodor Yastreb, head of art studio “Nadzeya” of Psychoneurological Hostel № 2 Tatiana Birulja, chairman of the education administration of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Nina Viktorovskaya, director of the Minsk Regional State Special Boarding School of General Education for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children Inna Volchek, worker of the Hostel for Children with Mental and Physical Disabilities nun Marpha.

The main idea of the project is that some of us have limited physical and mental capacity, but these factors can be successfully overcome by unlimited creative abilities. The society shouldn’t avoid such problems, but quite the contrary it should help its "special" individuals to realize their creative potential for the benefit of all.

The exhibition runs till February 22nd, 2013 in the gallery “Labyrinth”.
