Other news

The Native Land, the Tale of Times, an exhibition timed to the Year of the Native Land in Belarus, has opened in the National Library, on April 5th.

Sometimes we hurry to live, ignoring the essential and losing the foundation on which life itself is built. Our native people, parents' home, street, school, commemorative stuff, childhood memories... All of this make the native land, whence our life originates.

Many talented people, be it a writer, artist, photographer, or even a collector, turn to the image of their native land with love, with gratitude and thrill.

The participants of the exhibition project, photographer Sergey Plytkevich and collector Vladimir Likhodedov, express admiration for Belarusian landscapes, cities and towns. Photos on display are showing an unexpected Belarus as incredibly beautiful panoramas from unusual viewpoints and a bird’s-eye view. A collection of cards of the late 19th−early 20th centuries allows us to take a plunge into the past and see how Belarusian cities and towns looked earlier.

The event was attended by the director of the National Library of Belarus, Roman Motulsky, the author of the project In Search of the Lost, Vladimir Likhodedov, journalist, author of many photo albums Sergey Plytkevich, and representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

The exposition of cards and photography started the project of art and information-documentary exhibitions dedicated to the Year of the Native Land. The project The Native Land, the Tale of Times is to be implemented in several stages, which will vary throughout the year. Follow the news, and let’s observe the Year of the Native Land together!

The exposition will run until 14 May, 2018.
The end date of the exhibition may be changed.
