On January, 22nd, the National Library hosted an opening ceremony of the Republican exhibition of textile sculpture “A Snowy Summer”.
Larissa Finkelstein, the art critic and founder of the first noncommercial Belarusian art gallery “Brama” is the exhibition author and curator.
The event started with a plastic, emotional and bewitching dance performed by actors of students’ theatre of dance “Otrazheniya” (“Reflections”). Their composition created a mood and set the fashion of the whole event, and the feeling of ease and weightlessness did not leave spectators during the celebration.
In the welcoming speech first deputy director of the National Library of Belarus Elena Dolgopolova noted the success of the previous exhibition “Smart Metal” arranged by Larissa Finkelstein last autumn and wished the curator and masters inspiration in their creativity.
The author of the exhibition shared the history of creation of the project “A Snowy Summer” and thanked everyone who had made an effort and had assisted in its carrying out. Grigory Nesterov, the artist, painter, founder and leader of Artel Association congratulated the author of the project and noted that the exhibition created a very special mood with plasticity and grace. In the subsequent this idea was shared by others speakers as well.
“I believe this combination of sculpture and tapestry is the most free and democratic, and sacral at the same time, and it does surprise”, – artist, member of the Union of Designers of Belarus Pavel Semchenko said. Writer Elena Popova emphasized that each work at the exposition could compete to world-known works of art.
Deputy director of the National Art Museum of Belarus Nadezhda Usova and poetess and member of the Union of Writers of Belarus Lyudmila Klochko shared their impressions of the project.
Young musicians from children’s collective “Magic flute” performed bewitching compositions which emphasized all the lightness of exhibits.
The art exhibition “A Snowy Summer” is located in the gallery “Rakurs” and runs till the end of February.
