Thematic exhibition "World Health Organization: Health for All!", dedicated to World Health Day and the 75th anniversary of the World Health Organization, is open from 30 March to 3 May in the Official documents department (room 207).
The exhibition offers readers about 100 documents in Russian and English. These are books, brochures, mimeographed UN materials, periodicals, booklets. These documents will introduce the reader to the activities of the World Health Organization aimed at solving international health problems of the world's population.
The proceedings presented at the exhibition introduce the history of WHO, its structure and main stages of development, as well as priority areas in its work, such as women's and children's health, nutrition and sanitation, and the fight against diseases such as AIDS, diabetes, tuberculosis, cancer, etc.
Most of the exhibition is made up of World Health Organization documents: reports on the state of health in the world and Europe, resolutions and decisions of the WHO executive committee, monitoring of the world population on health issues, key WHO documents, etc. A separate section contains documents that reveal the problems of health protection in Belarus.
Among the documents presented at the exhibition are materials of international scientific and practical conferences, collections of scientific articles, statistical collections, monographs, textbooks, etc.
The exhibition includes the following thematic sections:
- WHO: history, problems, prospects. International health guidelines and standards
- Achieving universal health coverage (HEHS)
- Mother and child health
- Fighting infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS
- Healthy lifestyle is the basis of human longevity
- Public health protection in the Republic of Belarus
The exhibition will be useful for healthcare professionals, medical professionals, researchers, teachers, students of higher educational institutions, as well as anyone interested in health problems and healthy lifestyle issues.
The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations, which is the guiding and coordinating authority in the field of health within the UN system. Membership includes 194 states. The organization's headquarters are located in Geneva.
The history of the World Health Organization dates back to April 7, 1948. On this day, its charter came into force. Every year since 1950, this date has been celebrated as World Health Day.
In 2023, WHO is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The seventy–fifth anniversary of WHO is an occasion to recall past public health achievements that have improved the quality of people's lives over the past seven decades. It is also an opportunity to provide an incentive for action to address current health issues of today and tomorrow.
World Health Day is a global campaign that aims to draw the attention of every inhabitant of our planet to health and public health issues. This is a unique opportunity to focus the world's attention on public health and human health issues, and to encourage Governments, international organizations, businesses, and civil society to work together to address these issues.
