The exhibition "Assorted Porcelain" debuted on January 12 at the Exhibition complex (room 104).

We invite the audience to become immersed in the art of porcelain. There are about 500 porcelain items on display in the exhibition, including fairy-tale and literary heroes, circus performers, ballerinas and street musicians, images of animals, busts of composers, poets and writers, plaques, plates, mugs, inkwells, pencil cases, sets and other interior items, as well as porcelain with sentimental and pastoral subjects, New Year's and space themes..

A special pride of the collection are porcelain figurines of fairy-tale characters “Little Red Riding Hood and the Gray Wolf" (Germany, second half of the 20th century), "Buratino" (Leningrad Porcelain Factory, Russia, the 20th century), "The Magic Swan Geese" (Dulevsky Porcelain Factory, Russia, the 20th century), etc.

The porcelain figurines "Ballerina Stork" and "Ballerina Cat" (Dmitrov Porcelain Factory (Verbilki), Russia, second half of the 20th century) stand out among the various genre sculptures of vocalists, actors, musicians, circus performers, and dancers. Sculptors I. Apakovich and M. Intizaryan were inspired by the performance "The Stork", the first children's ballet staged in 1937 by students of the Moscow Choreographic School when they created the figurines. It is noteworthy that the role of the central character of the ballet “The Kitten” was played by a third-grade pupil Maya Plisetskaya.

Several showcases in the exhibition are occupied by unique figurines of the animal world from different continents of the globe, including animals listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus.

Visitors will not be left indifferent by the compositions of porcelain vases of different sizes, the pride of the series can be considered vases of different colors, released in the 1950s.

The exhibition brought together porcelain from factories in Belarus, Russia, and various European countries.

The porcelain collection for the exhibition was provided by Viktor Suvorov, a member of the board of the Belarusian Republican Public Association of Collectors.

The exhibit, draws on the collection of the National Library of Belarus, features albums of reproductions, encyclopedias, devoted to the history of the origin of porcelain, and the growth of its manufacture globally. It also enables to compare porcelain products from different countries. Visitors may also be interested in books that porcelain figure sculptors used as inspiration, such as Charles Perrault's Little Red Riding Hood from 1923, which features illustrations by the talented children's book illustrator V. Konashevic.

We welcome you to savour the delicate beauty of porcelain and to awe at its artistic production until December 12, 2023.
