From December 7 to January 8, the Belarusian Literature Reading Room (No 205) hosts the anniversary exhibition "The Heart of a Great Kindness", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian writer, Honored Worker of Culture of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of Belarus, holder of the Order of the Badge of Honor, Elena Vasilevich (1922-2021).
An outstanding and famous figure in modern Belarusian literature, Elena Vasilevich, made a rich contribution to the artistic treasury of Belarus, the spiritual culture of the people. Her pieces, reliable in describing everyday life and revealing the character of a person, written in a lively folk language, are imbued with a poetic vision of the world and a restrained, trusting manner of narration.
The writer focuses on the life and work of her contemporaries, problems of personal relationships, morality, and raising children. About this – collections of short stories and novellas “Folks”, “The heart has heard”, “A Cape of Good Hope” presented in the first section of the exhibition. The central place in it is occupied by the tetralogy created on autobiographical material “Wait, stay…", in which Elena Vasilevich showed the difficult path of a peasant girl to adulthood, the spiritual development of a person. The exhibition will also feature good and interesting stories for children. Books “Tomorrow in the school”, “Friends”, “A Cramp Glove” , “A Vernissage” written with humor and in a light lively manner of narration.
A separate section presents translations made by E.S. Vasilevich from Russian, Ukrainian, English and other languages, as well as publications with translations into different languages of the world of the writer's own works.
The materials of the last section of the exhibition introduce visitors to the life and creative path of the writer through literary and critical publications, articles from encyclopedic and periodicals.
The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
